Replica Prop Forum
A great place to learn new building techniques and see what other people are building is the Replica Prop Forum. There are sections for movie props, costumes, model building and paper props but really there's so much skill set crossover, I encourage you to look at them all.

That's pretty cool... I'm sort of in awe of the talent those guys(and you) have. You can make such awesome stuff; and people like me want to pay you to make it!
